I was wondering if I could find out some info if possible from someone out there. I was injured on the job, and everything is going along well with Doctors/MRI and believe it or not, the Insurance company. Since the stairs were not OSHA compliant, they soon were replaced after my fall. I did sustain a knee injury and have been released back to work on lite duty per my request. I had asked to put off the surgery with the treating doctor due to a family reunion, I couldn't take the chance of not being able to attend or drive to this reunion. This was ok'd by the Doctor, and now I'm awaiting surgery secluded for this month.
My question is, could I postpone the surgery a few months longer and wait for the winter months at my choosing, if it doesn't get worse or I injure it further?

I would be careful about repeated postponements... Ultimately it could cause more run-a-round when you want to go through with the Sx but in the end I don't think that they will be able to deny your Sx. This also depends a lot on your claim status. If you into future meds, then it's a tad bit easier to post pone trx, but if your currently involved in an open claim I would take a closer look at the reasons why you want to put off the Sx again.

And it might affect your temporary disability status if the only reason you are on TTD is for the condition requiring the surgery. Postponing the surgery means prolonging temporary disability, and unless you are TTD for more than that reason the doctor may just P&S you with a provision for surgery in the future when you want it. And waiting may result in further utilization review should your condition change in any way, and a conflicting UR opinion on whether the surgery is necessary or not.

Now, I don't have all the little details of your case to make a true prediction here - I'm just sharing a few things that you should consider and look into before you make a final decision to postpone the surgery longer than this first time.

"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin, real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life." Alfred D'Souza
