I am interested in hearing back from you claims adjusters on what is a fair and equitable amount to bill for a missed QME appointment.

Wait, yes I know, billing is one thing and getting paid is another, but in your experience, what is a reasonable amount to pay to a QME who has set aside 3-4 hours of office time, only to have the applicant not show, made no contact to let anyone know they planned to not attend, etc.

You can bill for services performed to date.

Did you read the records prior to the exam?

In my travels, I've seen ML100s billed anywhere from $ 250 to $ 350.

In the same method that you secure an authorization for the eval, testing, etc, (authorization form, appointment letter, etc.), start getting an agreement to pay a no show preauth'ed also, and include the dollar amount in the event the patient gives less than 24 hours notice on the cancellation.

This may not help you get paid or get paid faster, but at least you'll have evidence that will help you collect it.

Hope that helps some....
