Since WCC is remodeling its site, at this point it might be a good idea to incorporate the Injured Worker forum into the Professional one and have just one Forum. Injured workers, albeit unintentionally, have been segregated to the point of being ignored by most the so-called "professionals."

I still think that WC waters are turbulent enough for those of us who have been around for a while to encourage an unrepresented injured worker to fend for him/herself, but at least this way, they will have a much better chance of getting sensible advice.

Zorro--on behalf of the IW Forum, I would like to thank you for your continued "crusade" to provide information, insight and guidance for the IW. You are greatly appreciated, as are your considerable efforts to keep us informed!!!

Dear Davidd--thank you very much for allowing an "exception to the rules" by allowing an IW to post the "To The Proffesionals" post on the Prof Forum side, and other IWs to respond on the Prof Forum Post thread. As a result, the IW Forum now has reliable information/guidance by the "experts" who can augment comments by IWs!!!!

Again, Many thanks on behalf of the IW Forum!

Hi Davidd--thanks for the new Lien Post under the PF side!

Following up on Zorro's suggestion, could the IW Forum have a new category, something on the lines of "Ask the Pros"? This might help the Pros quickly identify an issue/question posed by an IW that the Pros may wish to respond to, rather than having to scour through the existing categories and numerous posts, which consumes their valuable time.

Thank you very much in advance for your consideration concerning this matter.

Sincerely, Rumbler

P.S. Edited for content: Also, perhaps by the creation of a new category in the IW Forum, it would help decrease the "cross-overs" from IWs posing questions to the Pro Forum, as evidenced by dleemoon's recent inquiry....

As you said to Zorro "You asked, and it is is done" (re Liens category on the Pro side)--. Just a thought for your consideration, Davidd. If it can be done, GREAT! If not feasible, just let us know, OK?? THE WCC Forums are of immense benefit to ALL!

Very Respectfully,

Rumbler

rumbler, far be it from me to try to second-guess David, but I am starting to think that our request to blend the two forums may not be technically feasible. The software engine that drives the WCC Forum may not allow to have sub-categories within categories, and the best that can be done is to create a new one on the Professional side, which may actually be less useful than the four now on the IW side, and that makes it a difficult choice. I hope I'm wrong, but it is starting to look that way.

Fortunately, there are those with an above-average sense of duty toward their fellow human being who visit the IW side and selflessly contribute with their knowledge.

Well, it seems there are a couple of requests here.

First, "Ask the Pros" - that is what the Questions & Advice category was for. So I'm not inclined to add another category that would be duplicative.

Second, blending the Forums - that is a technical problem, and something we are pondering right now. The software that drives these Forums is nearly 6 years old now - which means it is ancient in technology age. There are numerous problems with simply upgrading it, not to mention the biggest problem is that we risk losing all of the prior data. But anyone that has been to various forums knows that these forums are, technologically, in the stone age.

We have a couple of plans on upgrading and one of them is to just launch all new Forums on all new software, with the ability to search the old Forums, but not able to post or reply to the old Forums. That would mean that if there was a thread on the old Forum it would have to be copied and pasted in to the new Forum for continued discussion.

Any suggestions are welcome - this is a real challenge, and I have seen other Forums go through this, some successfully, most unsuccessfully...

If you were able to have categories within categories, much like you can have folders within folders on a computer disk, the Forum would be much more dynamic. In this particular case, you could have a category named "Injured Workers" on the professional side, and then the four categories already on the IW side incorporated within this one, but I think that's where the problem is.

FWIW, I do not post on the Injured Worker Forum for a number of reasons:

1) I am not an attorney, I do not want to be later accused of giving legal advice.

2) I do not want to encourage injured workers to buy my books...they will not be helped. My books are useless unless someone has some of the other books mine refer readers to!
